Samivel’s garden

In the artist’s footsteps

Watercolorist, poet, novelist, filmmaker and explorer, throughout his life  Samivel has deeply  affected the alpine world. He regularly used his talents to protect  nature in general, in particularly the mountains. He visited Les Contamines from an early age and continued to do so throughout this life, becoming very attached to the village and its inhabitants.

Come and discover  some of his most beautiful watercolors, some world-famous, others more recent. Located behind the village church, this open air museum exhibits his works in natural surroundings. The peaks of the valley are juxtaposed on the summits painted by the artist.

For a cultural break, a moment of reflection, meditation or simply for the alliance of art and nature, feel free to walk in Samivel’s footsteps.
