The Gorge gondola is closed for maintenance work. However, pedestrian access to Le Signal is still available by gondola, departing from Le Lay via the Montjoie gondola.
In summer, les Contamines-Montjoie is a flower field, pastures protected by fir forests, upon which the summits of the Mont-Blanc chain look upon. The village is a gateway to many full days and half day hikes. Various forest trails for all levels allows for a diversity of walks.
