Les Contamines-Montjoie Nature Reserve, protected area, offers the chance to explore the incredible natural diversity of the countryside and the species living there, spread over 2,800m of varying altitude! Activities have been developed over the last few years to enhance these natural treasures fully. The themes and activities offered endeavor to bring the nature reserve to life and bring you up close to its inhabitants. The aim is to raise awareness and share our knowledge and wonder, so that both youngsters and adults can learn about the environment with the help of a nature activities leader, with the involvement of relevant centers such as schools, holiday centers, and tourist offices. The Reserve's nature activities leader helps us to learn about this protected area by providing various activities throughout the year: nature workshops, indoor and/or outdoor visits for children and naturalist slide shows.
The Nature Reserve of Les Contamines-Montjoie covers the left side of the valley when you enter the village. It was created in 1979 and covers more than 5, 500 hectares, from 1 000 to 3 900 meters high. Forest , pastures, torrents, rocks, snow and glaciers offers a fragile but wonderful mountain area.
The 'Friends of the Nature Reserve' Association is ensuring that the link between this protected area and the public. The Reserve Nature Centre, located at the village centre offers activities for children and adults. You can play a part in preserving this legacy, which we will pass on to our children. So come and join us!

JULY ACTIVITIES - Every day an activity
Mondays : 5 to 6 pm. Welcome to newcomers, presentation of the Nature Reserve Naturelle and the activities of the week.
Tuesdays : 3.30 to 5 pm Painting workshop : Painting on wood or on T-shirts. At the Reserve Nature centre. Prices: on wood10 € , on T-shirt 13 €.
Wednesdays : 2 to 5 pm. Nature outing «LITTLE TRAPPER ». Children : from 8 to 12 years old, parents are welcome:
-Looking after the nature life
- Learn about the fauna of Les Contamines-Montjoie
- walkings, games and workshops...

4th Days of the Nature Reserve on 5th and 6th August 2008 .
This year the subject of the exhibition will be the water. Children workshops, outings, conferences will take place in the village and the nature. Registrations and meeting will take place during the first morning with a coffee offer by the shopkeepers.
Day of berries and mushrooms picking, at the end of August. Exhibition and identification at the village centre square.
