Located within the territory of Les Contamines-Montjoie, a 5,500 ha area is classified as a “Nature Reserve” to protect it from further development.

Enjoy its many different facets : lakes, mountain pastures, cliffs, glaciers) Appreciate its varied fauna and flora : chamois, ibex and black grouse frolic among the gentians and rhododendrons.

Nature reserves are often the only remaining areas  unspoilt by human contact.

Please abide by the following rules & regulations within the Reserve:

Dogs must be kept on a lead to ensure that wildlife is not disturbed.

Do not pick flowers or pick up fossils. They are to be admired in their natural environment.

Take all your litter away with you.

Do not camp or build camp fires (mountain bivouac sites are available for your use at La Rollaz and La Balme).

In order to ensure a peaceful environment for animal life and other visitors, please do not make unnecessary noise.
Flying over the area at an altitude of less than 300m ( paragliding, deltaplane, helicopter etc.) is forbidden.
Motor vehicles are also forbidden except for farmers, forest workers, mountain refuge & alpine chalet owners.
