Born in Laxou on the 8th April 1985 Marie Marchand Arvier grew up at her parents home in Nancy. As a child she enjoyed family holidays in Les Contamines participating in the ski school competition courses. As a young child she represented the local French Ski School in two important competitions, “l’Etoile d’Or” & “Coq d’Or”.
At the age of 14 ½ Marie left Nancy to join the district ski team followed by the Mont Blanc ski team a little later. She earned herself a place in the European Cup team in 2003 and experienced her first World Cup competition a year later. She regularly placed herself amongst the top ten skiers and won her first downhill medals in 2007, in Cortina and then Lenzerheide. At the 2009 World Championships in Val d’Isère she won the silver medal in Super G.
